Discover how a bouclé crate mat cover adds style and comfort to your dog's crate. Our buying guide explains fit, material, and care so you can choose the right cover for your setup.
Quick answer
A bouclé crate mat cover is a textured, washable cover that protects your dog's crate mat while adding a stylish, cozy look to the crate. Choose a size that matches your mat and a color that suits your home.
Why choose a bouclé crate mat cover?
Bouclé fabric has a looped, textured surface that feels soft and inviting for your dog. It also adds a touch of style to a crate that might otherwise look purely functional. Because the cover is removable and washable, it helps keep the crate mat clean and extends its life.
What to look for when buying
The most important factor is size. A cover that is too small won't stay in place, while one that is too large can bunch up and become uncomfortable. Check the dimensions of your crate mat and compare them to the cover's size options. The Bouclé Crate Mat Cover from Dazy Dog comes in four sizes (S, M, L, XL), so you can find a match for most standard crate mats.
Color is another consideration. Bouclé covers are available in neutral tones like Ivory and deeper shades like Forest Green, so you can coordinate with your room decor or your dog's bedding.
Limitations to keep in mind
A crate mat cover is exactly that: a cover. It does not include the mat itself, so you need to have a crate mat or pad to use underneath. Also, while bouclé is durable, the looped texture can snag if your dog likes to scratch or dig at the bedding. If your dog is a heavy digger, you might want to pair the cover with a tougher mat underneath.
How to choose the right bouclé crate mat cover
- Measure your crate mat first: Measure the length and width of your existing crate mat or pad. Compare those numbers to the size chart for the cover you're considering. Write down your mat dimensions before shopping.
- Pick a color that fits your space: Ivory suits bright, neutral rooms and shows dirt more easily. Forest Green works well in darker or nature-inspired spaces and hides everyday wear.
- Consider your dog's habits: If your dog doesn't scratch or dig at the crate bedding, a bouclé cover is a great choice. For heavy diggers, place a durable mat underneath to protect the cover. Check your dog's crate behavior before buying.
- Plan for washing: Bouclé covers are machine washable. Wash on a gentle cycle with mild detergent and air dry to maintain the texture. Set a reminder to wash the cover every 2-4 weeks.
