Quick answer
Choose the Canvas Spiced Apple if your dog sheds heavily or tends to scratch; choose the Bouclé Nero if you want a modern look and easy-to-wash cover that still supports joints.
Why cover material matters for durability
The cover is the first line of defense against claws, dirt, and daily wear. Canvas and bouclé offer very different strengths, so your choice should match your dog's habits and your cleaning routine.
Canvas is a tight-weave fabric that resists snags and keeps hair on the surface. Bouclé is a looped, textured fabric that feels soft and looks stylish but can be more prone to pulling if your dog digs.
Memory foam base: same support, different covers
Both beds use Dazy Dog's orthopaedic memory foam base, so joint support is identical. The real difference is in the cover: canvas is heavy-duty and low-maintenance, while bouclé is machine-washable and décor-friendly.
If your dog is a light shedder and doesn't scratch, the bouclé cover's softness and modern texture may be more appealing. For heavy shedders or dogs that like to dig before settling, canvas is the practical winner.
Trade-offs at a glance
- Scratch resistance: Canvas Spiced Apple holds up to light scratching thanks to its tight weave. Bouclé Nero's looped texture can snag if your dog digs or scratches repeatedly.
- Hair management: Canvas keeps hair on the surface, making it easy to brush or vacuum off. Bouclé's texture can trap hair, requiring more thorough cleaning or a lint roller.
- Washability: Bouclé Nero cover is removable and machine washable. Canvas Spiced Apple cover is durable but may not be as convenient to remove and launder; spot cleaning is often sufficient. If you need frequent full washes, the bouclé cover is easier to maintain.
- Style integration: Bouclé Nero's modern textured look blends into home décor more easily. Canvas Spiced Apple has a utilitarian, outdoor-friendly appearance.
