The Outlast layer actually works — my black lab used to abandon his bed by noon, but now he naps on this straight through the hottest part of the day. It's firm enough for his old hips too, which I wasn't expecting from something this soft.

My dog took to this mattress right away, and I love that it uses the Outlast technology to keep him cool without feeling artificial. The only small issue is that the cover isn't removable for washing, so I have to spot clean it. But overall, it's been a great upgrade for his sleep.

The cooling did seem to help on warm afternoons, but the orthopaedic foam flattened noticeably after about a month of daily use. For the price I expected the cushioning to hold up longer.
